Supportive environment for early-stage researchers
The Early Career Researcher (ECR) Committee at CRESCO is driven by a shared motivation to create a vibrant, supportive, and empowering environment for PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and all early-stage researchers in our community. As young researchers ourselves, we understand the challenges that come with navigating academic life from building a professional identity to finding a sense of belonging in a rapidly evolving scientific landscape. This committee was formed to address these needs and strengthen the ECR experience at CRESCO.
Motivation of the new committee
We are passionate about fostering an environment where early-career researchers feel supported both professionally and socially. Many of us have personally experienced the value of mentorship, collaboration, and peer support and want to ensure that all ECRs at CRESCO have access to similar opportunities. By building a strong network, we hope to reduce the sense of isolation that can come with research, encourage cross-disciplinary engagement, and create platforms where young researchers feel confident to share ideas, seek advice, and grow.
Committee goals
Our committee’s mission is to strengthen the ECR community through career development, scientific exchange, and meaningful social interactions. We aim to enhance the overall ECR experience by:
• Providing opportunities for professional growth through seminars, workshops, and career-focused events that support skill development and long-term career planning.
• Facilitating scientific discussions that allow ECRs to exchange knowledge, seek feedback, and become active contributors to the scientific dialogue at CRESCO.
• Creating social spaces where researchers can relax, connect, and get to know each other beyond the confines of the lab, helping to cultivate a welcoming, collaborative community.
